How To Start An Online Business - 3 Vital Issues You Can Certainly Avoid
>> Friday, November 18, 2011
Like I said... it's not easy. But have you ever experienced anything in life that made you feel amazing, happy and gave you more freedom or financial stability that came easily? I can tell you I haven't - and that's ok with me, because I tend to appreciate all that I have a lot more because I had to work a little for it.
That being said... I like to work a little - not a lot. I'm a strong believer in working smarter - not harder. And I'm going to help you to do the same by listing 3 of the biggest mistakes I've seen even our best members and students make. If you're doing any of these, then you'll be very happy to know that once you stop... you'll see an immediate improvement in your online results.
Ok, here are the to 3 biggest mistakes you can make when getting started with your online business
1. Jumping into a market or niche because you think it will make you the most money. Okay, so that might seem like a good idea - but it's a partial equation. You need to enter in a market that will be profitable AND that you'll enjoy working in. When you start an online business, and select a niche - you're making a commitment to writing and talking about that market every day (or at least most days). Some things you just can't outsource (like establishing yourself as an expert - or sounding excited about something).
2. Ignoring a niche market because you do not see a lot of traffic in it at present. You already know that you need to drive traffic to make your online business a success. Traffic is important, no doubt about it. However, high levels of traffic does not necessarily mean success in itself; you can often bring in more from a small, very dedicated customer base than you can from getting a huge amount of visitors who are not interested in what you have to offer. Do not automatically discount a market for having low levels of traffic until you have done your research - the response rate could be more than high enough to make up for a lower level of traffic.
3. Expecting to build Rome in a day. Learning how to build a website, much less building a successful online business, takes time. You need to be patient in order to make a go of it online. The idea is to build up your business into one which will be sustainably profitable over the long term, which means making an investment of time and effort to grow your business - it will pay off over time.
There is a lot more to learning how to build a website and developing a successful online business. However, knowing more about what things not to do can be just as useful (if not more) than knowing what to do - and now you know three things to avoid, which should give you a little more of an edge over your competition.
